MONTEREY HOUSES UNVEILS MULTIGENERATIONAL MURAL
On Friday, January 25, Councilman Ritchie Torres; Robyn Walker-Murphy,
Groundswell executive director; lead artist Nadya Voynovskaya
and young public housing residents of Monterey Houses unveiled a
new mural celebrating generations of leaders that have contributed
to building community at the development and uplifting the Bronx.

SOTOMAYOR READS TO BRONX STUDENTS
In honor of Dream Big Day, Bronx Children’s Museum and Hostos Community College cohosted
a special reading event for 200 P.S. 49, P.S. 55 and St. Anselm students featuring
Bronx natives U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and ‘Scandal’ actress Kerry
Washington on Friday, January 25. Justice Sotomayor discussed her published picture book,
‘Turning Pages: My Life Story’ while Washington moderated a question-and-answer discussion
between the students and Sotomayor.
