A jostle for top in
Barbados football
ensure his side beat Ellerton
Club 1-0, promoting the army
boys to the joint top position
in their zone, at the Wildey
Astro Turf.
But while the Zone Two leaders
BDF and Empire eye each
other, the Paradise players lurk
in third position on 30 points,
which they reached by defeating
St Andrew Lions 3-0. Two
of the Paradise goals came
in the first half off the boot
of national striker Armando
Lashley, and Tyrell Bancroft
netted the third in the second
session of play.
Defending champions Weymouth
Wales booted seven
goals into the net of Porey
Spring who did not answer
with even one goal to move
to 26 points and retain their
dominant Zone Two spot.
Perhaps Wales put that 7-0
drubbing on Porey Spring
because they felt some pressure
as their nearest challenger
in Zone Two, Blackbirds, had
the day before demolished RBC
Capital Markets 8-0.

to pull out the stops.
At the end of last weekend’s
series of matches Barbados
Defence Force (BDF) drew level
with Empire on 35 points in
Zone Two, and UWI Blackbirds
went up to 22 as they continue
to keep a close marker on Weymouth
Wales who are on 26.
With one month and a week
to go before conclusion of this
top Barbados league on April
21, some may argue that is
too early to read any significance
in the points standing
but these leading teams know
that the danger lies in allowing
