Fashion Peter Tosh honored
Ms. Rose will open the show
with her d’Obvious Rose collection
of stylish outfits tailored
to young girls like her, who
are bold, stylish, and ‘obviously’
ready to rock the fashion scene
that Sapphire has already penetrated.
Founder and CEO of Guyana
Fashion Showcase, Philbert
Giddings, who helped to blaze
the trail for clubbing in New
York, after his father, one of the
first Guyanese-born to enter
the entertainment arena in
New York during the 80’s and
90’s, teamed-up with designers,
Michelle Cole and Roger Gary
for the showcase.
The event will not only bring
seasoned designers to the runway
but up-and-coming Guyanese
designers, who will set a
new standard for fashion trends
in the region.
Michelle Cole, executive
director, said Guyana would
experience fashion beauty and
style like never before.
“Guyana Fashion Showcase
boast a stellar line up of
local, regional and international
designers and models, top
make-up artist and style team,
will bring some of spring 2019
best trends to the 60-foot runway,”
she said.
The show will be flawless,
said Roger Gary, creative director,
noting that the stage is set,
with a professional backstage
crew, and 45 models who will

artist, Renée Chester.
Gary, a former student of the
Guyana Burrows School of Art,
said it was important to include
students of the school as part
of the institution’s fashion program.
The line-up of designers to
rock the runway include: Roger
Gary’s Aqua Couture, Michelle
Cole Wagner, ColeFacts Andrew

JTB said the festival comes
on the heels of the United
Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization’s
(UNESCO) designation of reggae
as “an intangible cultural
heritage” and coincides with
the world’s largest reggae label,
VP Records, celebrating its
40th anniversary.
Last year, on the heels of the
successful digital marketing
campaign “Join Me in Jamaica,”
JTB said it deepened its
footprint in the digital space by
live streaming the 26th staging
of Reggae Sumfest.
The stream presented a
curated feed live from Catherine
Hall, featuring main stage
performances along with features,
artiste and media interviews,
all hosted live by popular
television host Sakina Deer.
The JTB Live Stream was
hosted on the Visit Jamaica
Facebook page, which had over
940,000 followers around the
globe.
Featured on the stream were
interviews with artistes like
Argentinian reggae sensation
Dread Mar I, D Major, Press
Kay, Yanique the Curvy Diva,
along with chief executive
officer of Downsound Entertainment
Josef Bogdanovich.
JTB said the successful Facebook
Live broadcast also continued
for the second night of
the show, capturing audiences
around the world to witness
the “Greatest Reggae Show on
Earth.”
During the broadcast, JTB
said Deer welcomed Reggae
Sumfest performing artists J
Boog, Keznamdi, Naomi Cowan
and D’Yani to the JTB booth
for exclusive interviews, giving
viewers an exciting behind the
scenes look at the festival featuring
real-time updates from
FRom left, Christopher Dobson, JTB’s district sales manager,
Midwest; Spragga Benz, Jamaican dancehall veteran
and Phillip Rose, JTB’s regional director, Northeast USA at
the New York Launch of Reggae Sumfest at Bogart House
in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Jamaica Tourist Board
the performers themselves.
Building on its success from
the first night, JTB said its
booth attracted hundreds of
attendees on the closing night
of the festival, and captivated
audiences across Jamaica and
major US markets through its
“dynamic, all-encompassing
Facebook Live experience.”
