A new day for
amNewYork
under Schneps
Schneps Media, helmed by Publisher
Clifford Luster and Editor-In-Chief Robert
Pozarycki, published the first edition
of the new amNewYork on Tuesday.
The newly designed and staffed paper,
which launched in 2003, is the highest
daily circulation newspaper in the city
and is the media company’s first daily.
Every day, amNewYork will be pooling
resources from its network of community
publications to deliver hyperlocal
news, from transit issues to entertainment
around the city and more.
The first edition of the re-launched
newspaper covered the city’s boroughbased
jail plan, East Harlem’s crumbling
East River Esplanade, outrage
over another cyclist death in Queens,
Gov. Cuomo’s take on make a statue
to honor Saint Francis Cabrini and
much more. And don’t worry, horoscopes
and the Sudoku and KenKen
puzzles remain.
In an editorial on Monday, the paper
promised its commitment to “become
an even stronger voice in New York
City” and be a “go-to” resource for transit
information.
Its team of reporters — transit
editor Vincent Barone, digital editor
Shaye Weaver, Mark Hallum, Gabe Herman,
Alejandra O’Connell-Domench,
and Alex Mitchell — have spent their
careers across the five boroughs covering
community boards, police activity
and crime, politics, real estate, city
government, food and drink, entertainment
and things to do.
Once its website, amNY.com, returns
next week, the outlet will have a digitalfirst
focus, reporting all the news you
need to know as a resident of New York
City.
Schneps Media, which has been in
the industry since 1985 with the launch
of the Queens Courier, has expanded
over the years to include more than 70
newspapers and websites across the city,
including The TimesLedger, The Brooklyn
Paper, The Villager, Long Island
Press and the Spanish-language paper
Noticia Long Island.
In an effort to provide complete coverage,
amNewYork is asking readers to
request coverage on specific issues by
taking a survey at amnysurvey.com.
