Guyana has won its fifth Cricket
West Indies Regional Four-day
Tournaments (2018-2019) when they
defeated Trinidad and Tobago in the
last round of matches with a sixwicket
win to finish on 154.2 points.
Leeward Islands, second on the
table and needing the full 24 points
to win the title in the last game
against Barbados collapsed for 90 in
their first innings, and was unable to
beat them to get full points.
Their batting collapsed at the Sir
Vivian Richards Stadium, triggered
by medium fast bowler Keon Harding’s
career-best 5 for 29, put paid to
the hopes of the Leeward Islands.
It is the fifth title win in a row for
Guyana, making them the first team
in the Cricket West Indies Professional
Cricket League franchise era
to achieve the feat.

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force fast
bowler, Anderson Phillip has been given
the Andy Roberts Award for his promising
2018-2019 season in the recent
Regional Four-Day Championship.
A release from Cricket West Indies
said, Phillip copped the award for being
the Most Promising Fast Bowler in the
tournament.
He bagged 28 wickets at 24.57 each
in eight matches to help the Denesh

WI legends
have a role

Newly-elected Cricket West Indies
President, Ricky Skerrit says he intends
to make sure the region’s legends have
a key role to play in Caribbean cricket
development.
He told CMC Sports that the iconic
former players were the valuable
resources who needed to be utilized
properly in order to get the full benefit
from their vast knowledge and experience.
His comments came against the
recent controversial remarks by defeated
CWI President Dave Cameron who
said some West Indies legends had not
excelled when asked to perform their
roles within the administration.
