Food BY ANGELA MATUA Photo by Bradley Hawks The Gucci Mane Burger Astoria gets a hip-hop-themed restaurant, which offers burger named after Gucci Mane Flattopps, a new restaurant in Astoria from the same owners as Queens Comfort, is offering plates with a hip-hopthemed menu. The restaurant recently had its soft opening at 33-06 Ditmars Blvd. and the place is decked out with red leather bar stools and chairs and vintage arcade games like X-Men. The official opening date was on July 16, according to We Heart Astoria, and they are open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Appetizers include Pastrami bombs, which are yukon gold potatoes with house-made pastrami, cornichon, Gruyere and Chinese mustard; apricot short rib sliders; and Ghetto Blasters, southern fried chicken patties named after large, portable cassette players. The Gucci Mane Burger, named after the rapper who released multiple records during his two-year prison term, includes a beef patty with raspberry jam, Cap’n Crunchcrusted bacon, Gruyere and French toast brioche. Other burger options include the Murda Burger, which consists of a chicken patty with blue cheese and granny smith apples, and vegetarian options like the Fat Beets Burger. Also on the menu is Purple Drink, a concoction that became popular in the hip-hop community in Houston, Texas, and includes prescriptionstrength cough syrup, although we’re fairly certain this version does not include it.
