Hello, LIC Courier readers!
Summer is underway, and we at the magazine have some
great stories for you coming out of Western Queens.
Get your sweat on at the new SLT (Strengthen-Lengthen-
Tone) studio in Long Island City. The 50-minute workout has
been described as a combination between cardio, strength
training and Pilates, and is sure to be fun and challenging.
After you get in a good workout, head to the Ice & Vice
pop up shop, which has made its way home to Long Island
City. Fans of the World’s Fare can enjoy the World’s Fare
Passport Series, coming to Queens from August to October.
Foodies can sample cuisines from the Americas, Europe and
Asia, all in one place.
We’ve also brought you some great community news this
month. Astoria has seen a residential rise, as seen in a report
from Modern Spaces, a local Queens councilman made his pick
for New York governor at a press conference and Hunter’s
Point Park is now opened to the public.
In our Features section, we profiled an Astoria chef from
Akrotiri who made an appearance on The Food Network Show
“Chopped.” He talks about his experience on the show and also
*spoiler* what he’s going to do with the $10,000 he won from
As always, we have some fun suggestions for local events
and art exhibits to attend. If you have any tips or news you would
like to share with us, reach out to me at email@example.com. Have
a great July!
