LIC has an ever-evolving mix of businesses and residents, which is also little understood. This panel
will pull back the curtain on the reasons for and challenges to this diversity and also reveal who’s
adding to it in the near future.
Innovo Property Group
Andrew Chung founded Innovo Property Group (“IPG”) in
2015. Prior to starting IPG, Andrew Chung was a Partner
at The Carlyle Group in the U.S. Real Estate Fund. He
served as head of the New York office for the Real Estate
Fund for 10 years. Mr. Chung is currently a member of
the Advisory Board for NYU Schack Institute of Real
Estate. He was also honored by ranking in the New York
Observer’s “Power 100: Most Powerful People in NY
Real Estate” in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and
2014. Mr. Chung graduated from the Wharton School,
University of Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in Economics.
Director of Department of City Planning
& Chair of City Planning Commission
Marisa Lago is the Director of the New York City Department
of City Planning and Chair of the City Planning Commission.
Prior to City Planning, she served in the Obama Administration
as the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Assistant Secretary
for International Markets and Development. Before serving at
Treasury, she was the President and Chief Executive Officer
of New York Empire State Development Corporation, Global
Head of Compliance for Citigroup’s corporate and investment
bank, Director of the Office of International Affairs at the
Securities and Exchange Commission, Director of the Boston
Redevelopment Authority, and General Counsel of the New
York City Economic Development Corporation. Lago earned a
J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School (1982), and a B.S.
in physics from Cooper Union (1977).
Mr. Shehadeh is a Senior Managing Director overseeing
Tishman Speyer’s activities in the New York region,
and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Since joining the company in 2000, Mr. Shehadeh has
been responsible for transactions totaling over $15
billion. Today, he oversees the acquisition, development,
disposition and operations of the New York area business
– a portfolio of approximately 21 million square feet,
with an additional 8 million square feet of development
pipeline. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute
and the Real Estate Board of New York. Mr. Shehadeh
received a BS in engineering from Boston University and
an MBA in finance from New York University.
Alan Suna (Moderator)
Alan Suna is an architect, real estate developer-Silvercup
Properties and co-owner of Silvercup Studios in Long
Island City. Among the projects that Silvercup Properties
have done include the Industry and currently under
construction The Harrison, both on 44th drive in LIC.
Silvercup Studios has been home to such popular TV
series as 30 Rock, Gossip Girl, Sex and the City, and The
Sopranos -- movies including The Devil Wears Prada and
When Harry Met Sally -- and over 1,000 TV commercials.
Current television productions at Silvercup include:
CBS’s Elementary and Madam Secretary, HBO’s Divorce,
TV Lands’ Younger and ABC’s Quantico.
Tom Powell has been in the engineering, project management
and production environment for 30+ years. His
career focus has been on mission critical and emergency
communications systems. He hold patents for automated
emergency communications systems, published works
with digital multimedia systems and periodic presenter at
industry events including the America Public Transportation
Association and America Public Safety Organization.
As Macy’s SVP of Store Design, Vendor Shops, Private
Brand and Offices Steven leads an organization which
is responsible for the creation of the instore brand
experience across all stores, nationwide. He and his team
work to create the tangible expression of what our guests
call the magic of Macy’s.
Prior to joining Macy’s Steven led several global design
practices, most recently as Principal with Callison
Architects. He was responsible for leading the New York
retail practice where he built a specialty in luxury brands,
watches and jewelry, and international department stores.
Steven has received awards for his work including the
2016 Retail Design Luminary Award, 2016 A.R.E. Gold
Award, and the 2013 A.R.E. Grand Prize.
