Supporting Businesses and Organizations
In addition to our one-on-one business assistance to retain and attract businesses,
we are working with government agencies and stakeholders on initiatives to make
incentive programs work better for businesses, improve streetscape in the Industrial
Business Zone for all users, encourage the creation of additional space, and keep
space affordable. Also an outgrowth of the Comprehensive Plan, we have several
ongoing projects that connect residents and students to career pathways at local
businesses.
We recently held our Fifth Annual LIC Springs
community festival with the support of Council
Member Jimmy Van Bramer and NYC DOT.
The event attracted over 100 businesses and
organizations and 10,000+ attendees.
We also get the word out about dozens of
community events every month on our website.
Life Sciences
The Comprehensive Plan specifically identified an opportunity for LIC as a home
for life sciences - a sector which encompasses biotechnology, pharmaceuticals,
bioinformatics, medical devices and more. We have retained East Egg Project
Management to study the feasibility of developing a life sciences cluster in LIC.
Preliminary results have confirmed a unique and significant opportunity for LIC as a
part of the NYC life sciences ecosystem. A full report will be released soon. Visit our
website, licqns.com, for more information on the life sciences in LIC.
