HOW SPRUNG MONUMENTS HELPS
CUSTOMERS PICK THE PERFECT
MEMORIALS FOR LOVED ONES
Since 1926, families have trusted Sprung Monuments
to create high-quality memorials.
The company was started when Bella Sprung convinced
her husband, Isidore, to create the company,
and it’s remained family-owned and -operated ever
since.
Its main executive offices and Craftsmen Center are
located on Route 109 in North Lindenhurst and it has
11 other retail locations.
As the company continues to overcome challenges
created by the pandemic, Adam Sprung, its third-generation
owner/president, notes that the business has
overcome every major crisis the U.S. has faced, from
the Great Depression on.
Sprung stresses he is hands-on, just like his father
and grandfather were before him, and the company
still runs the same as it did back in 1926.
He recently spoke with us about what makes his
company unique, how it helps customers select the
perfect memorials for loved ones, and more.
What makes Sprung Monuments unique? First,
being the same family for now 96 years with a
Sprung at the helm of it. When you have that type
of heritage, you have just tremendous expertise in
solving challenging memorialization scenarios that
come up. We are one of only maybe two or three
companies left in the whole metropolitan area that
are totally vertically integrated. Our artisans and
carvers complete the work under my overall supervision
and the company’s supervision. When
consumers come to us, from the beginning stage to
the actual installation, it is all supervised in-house.
Also, the investment in our training of our people
and our equipment and technology is on the forefront
of the industry. When you choose to work with our
team of expert craftsmen and memorialists, you have
more options for personalization than anywhere else.
I work with many families myself, and my company
has the knowledge and experience to guide families
to creating the perfect memorial — one that stands
the test of time and helps capture everything that
this person meant to your family.
Whether it’s custom design, civic memorials or adding
names to existing monuments — you can trust Sprung
Monuments to handle all of your needs through our
state-of-the-art Craftsmen Center.
How does Sprung Monuments help customers
choose the perfect monuments for loved ones? When
a consumer comes to us, the first thing we identify are
the options they have under the cemetery’s rules and
regulations for where the grave is located. All these
different cemeteries in the metropolitan area have
very different rules and regulations in terms of size
of the monument, color, finish, shape. So we narrow
that down and then present that to the consumer,
giving them the options within the parameters of
the regulations.
What other factors must customers consider when
selecting a monument? Budgets come into play and
depend upon the consumer’s budget or expectation
of what they value the service at.
How do you help customers choose the perfect
art and verbiage to memorialize a loved one? We
review different options, different epitaphs. When
the deceased’s relatives are working with us to determine
the wording, what comes from the heart is
usually what sounds best.
What are your monuments made of and where
do you source the materials? Granite is the most
preferred material to be used for memorialization.
Practically every cemetery in the tristate area will
permit only granite. Granite has proven to weather
and withstand the test of time. We source the world’s
finest granites.
How long does it take to produce a monument? A
monument can take several weeks and can take up to
several months, depending upon the sourcing of the
granite, the shape, and the time it would take to create
and carve that shape and the extent of intricacies that
would be involved in the shape of the artwork that
we would be doing.
Do you plan to grow the number of locations? We
are in the process of completing an upgrade of our
manufacturing facility, which clearly indicates that
our vision for the future is for the business to grow.
That will be completed by probably May 1.
In our 90-plus years of experience, we’ve learned how
to best serve families across the tri-state area, and it
would be our honor to serve you.
I am deeply committed to everyone Sprung Monuments
serves. You can reach me directly at asprung@
sprungmonuments.com, and you will receive a response
within 24 hours.
