The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual who committed a grand larceny this week. Authorities report that the 24-year-old victim was shopping inside Forever 21 within Skyview Center Mall at 40-24 College Point Blvd. in downtown Flushing on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 5:39 p.m. when she was followed from behind by a woman pushing a baby carriage. The woman then removed the victim’s wallet from her backpack and fl ed the location. The wallet contained $2,000. The incident was brought to the attention of the 109th Precinct. The suspect is described as a black female with long curly black hair, approximately 40 years old, standing at 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds. She was last spotted wearing a blue dress with white stripes, police said. Authorities were able to provide a photo and surveillance footage of the suspect, which can be viewed below. All calls and messages are kept confi dential. 111th Precinct Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck Motorcyclist killed on Cross Island Pkwy. A collision on the Cross Island Parkway came to a fatal end for one motorcyclist on Sept. 2 in Bayside. Bronx resident Michael Ramnath, 26, was operating a Suzuki motorcycle headed northbound on the parkway between the Northern Boulevard exit and the Bayside Marina just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 2 when he attempted to change lanes and clipped the back of a gold BMW. After striking the BMW, the motorcyclist veered to the right, struck the guardrail, and was ejected off the vehicle. Offi cers from the 111th Precinct and EMS arrived on the scene. They discovered the man with severe body trauma and transported him to Flushing Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The BMW driver remained on the scene. He has not been charged with any crime. The investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing. 115th Precinct Corona, East Elmhurst, Jackson Heights Bicyclist killed in Grand Central Pkwy. crash A bicyclist died on Monday, Sept. 5, after a minivan crashed into him on the Grand Central Parkway, police said. On Sept. 5 at approximately 12:50 a.m., police found a man injured on the eastbound Grand Central Parkway in the vicinity of 111th Street in Corona. An investigation found that the bicyclist, whose identity has not been released pending family notifi cation, was traveling on the left shoulder of the parkway when he veered into the left lane of traffi c. A Mazda MPV minivan struck the bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old male, stayed at the scene. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad. The man who shot and killed 22-year-old St. John’s University student Tiarah Poyau during the J’Ouvert festival in Brooklyn on Monday, Sept. 5, has been arrested, police announced. According to police, Regenald Moise, 20, of Brooklyn, was charged with second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment in the slaying of Poyau. Poyau, who aspired to become an accountant, was celebrating at the J’Ouvert parade — an overnight festival signaling the start of Carnival throughout the Caribbean diaspora, which is celebrated throughout Crown Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Flatbush — at 4:14 a.m. on Sept. 5 when she was fatally shot at close range in the head outside of 44 Empire Blvd. on the Crown Heights/Prospect Lefferts Gardens border, police reported. According to law enforcement agents, offi cers from the 71st Precinct responded to the 911 call of the shooting. EMS units also responded and transported Poyau to Kings County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Less than a half hour prior to Poyau being shot, 17-yearold Tyreke Borel was shot and killed in a separate shooting approximately one block away, cops said. Both shootings come after Mayor Bill de Blasio called for increased security measures at this year’s festivities after two men — one of them Governor Andrew Cuomo’s aide, Carey Gabay — were fatally shot at the 2015 J’Ouvert parade. Over 3,000 police offi cers were on hand at the parade. The NYPD also brought 45 cameras, more than 250 light stanchions and posters telling people “do not shoot anyone” that were hung across the neighborhoods in order to bolster safety at the parade, DNAinfo reported.
