ASPIREWINTER2016

BY MEAGHAN MCGOLDRICK They say these four years fly. As the second semester approaches, college seniors might be thinking “they” might just be onto something. But, have no fear. There is a way to stop the clock (no, not literally, but maybe, sort of figuratively). The key here is to make the most of your last semester. Thankfully, we here at Aspire have been there, done that, and lived to share our tips and tricks. Get involved We know everyone says it freshman year, and sophomore year, and maybe even junior year. But just because you’re on your way out the door (and across that stage come spring), doesn’t mean that you should sit back, relax and do a whole lot of nothing. Attend oncampus events, stop by that club meeting that you haven’t shown your face at all semester. Say hi to a stranger on campus. Enjoy being a part of your campus while you still can. Say “yes.” This one may seem simple, but it’s a lot harder than you might think. Say yes to an after-class coffee break with a friend. Say yes to a night out with your roommates even though it’s a Wednesday and you have class in the morning. Say yes to a movie night in with your hard-working RA. But, at the same time, don’t forget to… Balance properly Of course, there is a natural balance to these things. Don’t blow off your schoolwork so you can cherish your last few months of senior year. That could backfire, and maybe halt you from graduating at all. That would be ironic (and honestly, not too cool). Say yes to going out, but also say yes to studying, and making sure you leave school on the best note possible. Take a lot of pictures This one’s just for fun. You senior year could, quite possibly, end up being your favorite of all four years. So it makes sense that you’d want to document it. In some cases, you won’t get to see some of these people for a while. Make the time together count, and make sure you leave with something to remember it by.
