POLICE SEEK POTENTIAL SUSPECT IN BAY RIDGE BURGLARY

Authorities are looking to identify
a man they say burgled a Bay Ridge
home earlier this month.
According to police, at around
6:40 p.m. on Monday, July 10, the
unidentified individual entered a
residence in the vicinity of Ovington
Avenue and Sixth Avenue by
breaking in through the basement
door. Once inside, cops say, the man
removed jewelry before fleeing in an
unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a white
man. He was last seen wearing a gray
t-shirt and blue shorts.

SUSPECTS WANTED
FOR STEALING
THOUSANDS
OF DOLLARS
OF CIGARETTES
FROM BROOKLYN
DRUGSTORES
Police are searching for two suspects
believed to have stolen thousands
of dollars’ worth of cigarettes
from various pharmacies in Brooklyn,
including in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst,
since the beginning of June.
The two have been linked to 10 different
incidents within the confines
of the 61st, 62nd, 68th, 78th and 84th
Precincts in which they grabbed the
smokes then fled the scene.
According to cops, on Thursday,
June 1 at around 4:38 a.m. one of the
suspects entered Rite Aid, 8222 18th
Avenue, and stole around $1,343 worth
of cigarettes from behind the counter.
On Wednesday, June 7 at around
4:08 a.m., one of the perps went into
a Walgreens at 9408 Third Avenue
and stole around $800 worth of
cigarettes.
On Friday, June 9 at around 3:52
a.m., the crooks entered a Rite Aid at
344 Avenue X and stole approximately
$133 worth of cigarettes from behind
the counter before fleeing the scene.
On Monday, June 12 at around 2:24
a.m., the duo entered the Rite Aid at
120 Court Street, and stole around
$4,170 worth of cigarettes from behind
the counter.
That same day, at around 2:50 a.m.,
the two broke into a Rite Aid at 462
Fifth Avenue and stole around $1,462
worth of cigarettes, also from behind
the counter.
On Wednesday, June 14 at 2:46
a.m., the suspects broke into a Rite
Aid at 1720 Kings Highway, and stole
around $400 worth of cigarettes
from behind the counter. The two
then fled the location in a black Nissan
Altima.
Then, less than an hour later, at
around 3:42 a.m., the pair entered a
Rite Aid at 6900 Fourth Avenue and
stole around $900 worth of cigarettes
from behind the counter. One of the
store’s employees tried to stop the
crooks, one of whom took out a knife
and swiped his arm, causing a minor
cut, before the pair fled.
On Monday, June 19 at around 2:40
a.m., one of the suspects entered the
Rite Aid at 3823 Nostrand Avenue
and stole around $280 worth of cigarettes
from behind the counter.
On Friday, June 23 at around 4:23
a.m., the individuals went inside a
Rite Aid located at 2532 82nd Street
and removed approximately $1,581
worth of cigarettes from behind the
counter. The individuals fled the
location in a black Nissan Altima.
On Wednesday, June 24 at around
9:18 p.m., the two suspects returned
to the 18th Avenue Rite Aid and stole
around $1,069 worth of cigarettes
from behind the counter.
One of the suspects is described as
a black man, with a thin build, 5’10”
tall and around 145 pounds.
The second is a black man, with a
thin build, 5’10” tall, and around 165
pounds.

GRAB AND GO: A home near Ovington
Avenue and Sixth Avenue was
burglarized by a 24-year-old male
crook on Monday, July 10. According
to reports, between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.,
the man broke into the house, owned
by a 75-year-old woman, through the
basement door and stole jewelry from
the victim's bedroom. No arrests have
been made.
SWINGING STRIKE: A 24-year-old
man was attacked by an unknown
perp at 72nd Street and Third Avenue
on Saturday, July 15. Reports say that
around 4 a.m., the man was helping
someone who was described as being
in a confrontation with other individuals
when he was hit several times
from behind with a metal object by
the perp. The victim left the scene and
went home without calling the police.
He then walked into NYU Lutheran
Medical Center at around 9:30 a.m.
with his mother. The man sustained
lumps to his forehead and the side of
his head, and bruised arms and back,
and received five stitches on his upper
lip. No arrests have been made.
The 62nd Precinct serves
Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and
Gravesend.
BREAKING AND BUYING: Cops say
a 44-year-old man had his car broken
into on Saturday, June 24. According
to police, the victim parked the vehicle
near the corner of 61st Street and 21st
Avenue that day and, upon returning,
noticed that his rear passenger side
panel window had been removed and
had been placed on a seat inside the
car. The victim claims that his backpack
– which had contained $700 in
cash and a credit card – was missing.
Furthermore, authorities said, when
the man reported his card missing,
the bank informed him that there
had been an attempt to withdraw cash
following the break-in.
SURPRISE: A man living near 14th
Avenue and 67th Street returned
home from an approximately monthlong
trip to China in late May to find
that an unknown perp had opened
a Capital One credit card under his
name. Furthermore, cops said, the
perp made purchases on the card
in the amount of $18,765.57 at various
Apple stores in Brooklyn and
Manhattan.
