They jingle-bell rocked!
Effervescent elders got
their groove on at the annual
holiday party that leaders of
a Brighton Beach civic group
hosted at a neighborhood senior
center, which featured
plenty of food, gifts, and most
importantly, dancing, according
to organizers.
“Even the kitchen staff
came out to dance in their
aprons,” said Brighton
Neighborhood Association
leader Pat Singer.
Attendees of the Dec. 5
bash at Corbin Place’s JASA
Senior Alliance Senior Center
defi ed their age by dancing the
afternoon away to tunes both
old and new, including songs
by AC/DC and Frank Sinatra’s
“New York, New York,”
according to Singer, who said
she busted a move to a jam by
crooner Bruno Mars.
The hosts also staged a preparty
present collection, and
surprised the bash’s guests
in their golden years with all
sorts of gifts — one of which
Singer called particularly popular.
“One of the gifts was a Russian
doll with a bottle of vodka
inside,” she said.
A local leader who stopped
by the event said even he
couldn’t resist stepping out on
the dance fl oor.
“It was a lot of fun,” said
45th Assembly District Leader
Ari Kagan. “People from different
religions and nationalities
came together.”
Roughly 80 locals showed
up for the party despite the
day’s cold weather, according
to Singer, who said those who
braved the chill brought festive
spirits that she said are a
big part of why she stages the
bash year after year.
“This party was to warm
people up and to bring people
together,” Singer said.
Seniors catch the holiday spirit!
