in ‘Comedy Pet Theater’
Audience able clear to see
where we will be doing show.
These dogs — and cats — know
a lot of tricks!
Canine and feline entertainers
will show off their acting skills
alongside some talented humans in
Gregory Popovich’s “World Famous
Popovich Comedy Pet Theater,”
coming to Tribeca Performing Arts
Center on Jan. 5 and 6.
Popovich, who is based in Las
Vegas, is bringing his show to the
East Coast to show off his fourlegged
stars’ amazing tricks. The
highly intelligent dogs — and even
house cats — will impress audience
members of all ages with their European
style acts, juggling, and acrobatics.
He and his furry troupe have
been featured on Animal Planet, as
well as talk shows with stars such
as Jay Leno, David Letterman, and
Craig Ferguson. They were even finalists
on “America’s Got Talent.”
Popovich is also a gold-medal winner
in Paris, a special award-holder
in Monte Carlo, and a Grand Prix
receiver in Moscow!
Popovich is a master animal
trainer who employs positive-reinforcement
techniques in his training
— coaching individual animals
to perform tasks based on their natural
habits.
An all pets that perform in
Comedy Pet Theater are rescues
from shelters — and serve as furry
ambassadors for animals seeking
homes.
“When people see these amazing,
healthy animals on stage and
decide to adopt an animal from a
shelter themselves, my main message
has reached the audience,”
says Popovich, who grew up with
pets frequently his only playmates,
backstage at the circuses where his
parents performed.
He has participated in fund-raisers
for animal shelters and neutering
programs across the nation, and
his public-service announcements
promoting responsible pet adoption
are staples of his show.
The furry or feathered performers
in Comedy Pet Theater live in
comfortable quarters as members
of Popovich and wife, Izolda’s, extended
household in Las Vegas.
Those who grow too old for the stage
live in pampered retirement. He
has shared his expertise for raising,
training, and living harmoniously
with pets in two books: “You CAN
Train Your Cat: Secrets of a Master
Cat Trainer,” and, “Doggy Gone
Good: A Master’s Guide to Teaching
Manners, Tricks and Healthy
Habits.”
