It’s The Bronx taking submissions for March main event

Round 7
to now include photography,
fi lm, fashion, dance and design,”
Shalma said, noting the success
of his initial offering.
“It’s going to be even bigger
and better,” the event’s creator
added.
In the fresh realm of fashion,
well known Bronx designers
like Jerome Lamaar and Edwin
Reyes will be taking the reins
to help put on what Shalma described
as “a very interactive
fashion show.”
Additional art, photo, design
and painting galleries will interspersed
throughout Union Crossing
in Port Morris.
As a matter of fact, the soonto
be open Union Crossing building’s
creative architecture will
play a pivotal role in the threeday
festival.
Each fl oor of the building will
take on a different category of
the festival, one for music, one
for art, and one for this reporter’s
favorite aspect, food.
Thanks to 20-foot high ceilings
on the seven-story former
industrial bakery, artists like
Maria Oben and Natalie Lucre
have been put to work on decor
duty since January’s bitter cold
to create massive wall murals
from the ground to the top fl oor
to add another artful element to
the It’s The Bronx festivities.

The main event will also feature
a remarkable talent show
from the group that was voted
to move on at January’s preview
event.
Other components during and
leading up to the festival will be
interactive panel discussions
done by media and community
leaders in the Bronx.

After rolling out its outstandingly
successful preview event
at the Bronx Brewery on Saturday,
January 26, ‘It’s The Bronx’
now has its sights set on its much
anticipated 3-day event running
from Friday, March 23 to Sunday,
March 25.
It’s The Bronx is a festival of
the borough’s most talented, yet
currently unrecognized creative
minds.
The goal is to reveal the most
dedicated to their craft and
through the assistance of a committee
panel of established media
personalities, get these outof
the-box thinkers the public
exposure that they’ve earned.
While the preview event focused
on the three categories of
art, food and music even to the
extent of inspiring the Bronx
Brewery to create and debut a
new hoppy lager fl avored beer titled
‘Up And Comers,’ this time,
creator Marco Shalma and his
team are upping the ante for the
highly anticipated March event
at Union Crossing at 825 E. 141st
Street.
“We’re going all out with the
main event. It’s The Bronx expanded
it’s submission categories
Some will focus on the changing
and prevalent role of media
while others will focus on food,
health and wellness too.
It’s not too late to get on board
with It’s The Bronx either.
