Some heartless villains threatened
and clocked employees at a Coney
Island deli on Christmas Day, cops
said.
The Scrooge strode into the Mermaid
Avenue mart at W. 32nd Street
around 4:20 pm on Dec. 25, fl ashed a
knife, and demanded the worker behind
the counter hand over cash, police
said.
The brute then repeatedly
punched a second employee, before
fl eeing on foot without any green,
according to offi cials, who said paramedics
brought the second victim to
a nearby hospital for treatment to a
laceration on his hand.
Offi cers described the malefactor
as in his 20s and roughly 5-feet-10-
inches tall, and said he was last seen
wearing a white hoodie, dark pants,
and dark sneakers.

Cops cuffed a man for breaking into a
senior’s Coney Island home and beating
her up on Christmas Day, police
said on Dec. 28.
The 50-year-old suspect entered 88-
year-old Lyubov Fainshteyn’s apartment
inside a building near Surf Avenue
and W. 25th Street through her
unlocked front door just before 7 am,
authorities said.
He forced Fainshteyn into her bedroom
and onto her bed before rifl ing
through her belongings, and punched
her in the face when she tried to leave
the bed, according to cops.
But the victim then managed to activate
an emergency-medical alarm
during the incident, authorities said,
prompting the suspect to hit her in the
face once more before he fl ed.
Fainshteyn sought treatment to
bruising at Coney Island Hospital following
the break-in, said cops.
And offi cials do not yet know what,
if anything, the man stole from her, according
to a Police Department spokeswoman.
Authorities slapped the suspect
with charges including robbery, assault,
and burglary after his arrest,
according to police.
