Police on Jan. 9 cuffed a teenage boy
for attacking an 11-year-old girl on
Nostrand Avenue in Sheepshead Bay
last month, after footage of the assault
surfaced on social media.
Cops charged the 14-year-old from
Brooklyn with assault and reckless
endangerment, but didn’t release his
name or address due to his age.
And authorities are still searching
for a second bully, who also attacked
the girl during the Dec. 18 assault
near Avenue Y, which offi cials
said occurred around 8 pm.
An apparent Snapchat video of the
incident, which authorities released
on Jan. 8, shows the arrested teenager
hurl a backpack at the victim, before
splashing water in her face and tossing
a plastic bottle at her.
The at-large goon then came from
behind and punched her in the head
and the now-cuffed teen followed suit,
slugging her again — all while they
and the onlookers who fi lmed the attack
laughed at the victim, the footage
shows.
Offi cials said the male suspect
they’re still hunting for was last seen
wearing a burgundy sweater and
dark pants.
Cops are not looking for the person
who fi lmed the attack and shared
the video, according to a Police Department
spokesman, likely because
simply recording an assault or sharing
footage of such an incident is not
against the law, according to Brooklyn
based criminal-defense lawyer
David Levine.
