Lying ‘lawyer’
A lout swindled an 80th Street
woman out of $7,000 on Feb. 21 by
pretending to be a lawyer and falsely
claiming that her grandson was arrested
and that she needed to send
the cash to release him on bail.
The perp called the woman —
who lives between 14th and 15th avenues
— at around 11 am, according
to the report, which added that the
woman sent the money via a wire
transfer.
Bodega bums
A pair of punks tried to rob an
86th Street bodega and threatened
an employee with a gun on Feb. 18.
The incident occurred at the bodega
between Bay Parkway and
Bay 31st Street just before 5 am, according
to the report. When the dastardly
duo entered, one of the men
fl ashed the fi rearm and told an employee
to “empty the register” while
the other man went behind the counter
and grabbed a second employee
to prevent him from fl eeing.
The perp with the gun then told
his accomplice to bring the man he
was holding to the back and fl ashed
the fi rearm again.
Door to nowhere
Police arrested two crooks who
allegedly tried to pry open the storage
room door in a Bay 14th Street
apartment building on Feb. 18.
The pair — who cops said live
in the building between 86th Street
and Benson Avenue — tried to pry
open the door just before 9:30 pm,
before fl eeing towards 86th Street,
according to the report.
Broken spirit
A lout punched and kicked a man
— breaking three bones in the process
— after the pair had a verbal
dispute on 20th Avenue on Feb. 22.
The incident occurred between
61st and 62nd streets just after 5 pm,
police said. The man then took a cab
home and realized he felt abnormal
pain in his left leg, prompting him
to go to a hospital on the distant borough
of Staten Island, where doctors
concluded that he had three broken
bones, according to the report.

Have a glass
Cops arrested a woman suspected
of beating her ex-boyfriend
with a glass bottle inside a Fourth
Avenue doughnut store on Feb. 19.
The victim told police he was inside
the pastry shop between 24th
and 25th streets at 12:05 pm when
the suspect smashed the bottle over
his head, leaving him with cuts on
his face and hand.
The victim was taken to Lutheran
Hospital for treatment, and
police tracked down the suspect the
next day, charging her with felony
assault, cops said.
Razor sharp
Cops cuffed two men for allegedly
slashing a man and beating his
friend amid a brutal attempted robbery
on Fourth Avenue on Feb. 24.
The victims told police the suspects,
along with another man,
jumped them as they exited a diner
between 60th and 61st streets at 4:30
pm, shoving them to the ground,
before slashing one of them on the
hand with a box cutter.
Offi cers managed to track down
two suspects, charging them with
felony robbery, but a third remains
on the lam, cops said.
Third strike
Police busted a 23-year-old man
after he allegedly attempted to burgle
a woman’s 17th Street home —
for the third time — on Feb. 22.
The victim told police the suspect
tried to open a basement window
leading into her home between
10th and 11th avenues at 5:40 pm, but
took off after about 10 minutes.
She claims the same guy was
spotted on her property twice prior,
on Feb. 2 and Feb. 16, and offered to
provide police video evidence for
each incident, cops said.
Offi cers cuffed the suspect on
Feb. 23, charging him with felony

Brass-knuckle bandit
A brass-knuckled thief punched
a man in the face during a robbery
on Brighton Fifth Street on Feb. 20.
The metal-handed-marauder
grabbed money off the man near
Ocean View Avenue at 5:15 am, according
to police.
No love
A lout knocked out and robbed a
woman on Brighton Sixth Street on
Feb. 14.
Authorities said the victim was
in a park near Riegelman Boardwalk
East at 10:25 pm when the
scoundrel asked for a cigarette,
and when the woman refused, he
knocked her unconscious.
She woke up in the hospital with
her valuables gone, including jewelry
and a designer wallet, cops
said.
Subway swipers
Four scoundrels robbed a man at
the Ocean Parkway subway station
on Feb. 18.
The robbers snatched a bookbag,
clothes, and an iPhone as the
man rode the Q train near Brighton
Beach Avenue at 10:22 pm, according
to police.
Phony loan
A scammer conned a man out of
more than $2,000 over the phone at
E. Seventh Street on Feb. 19.
The victim called a personal
loan company from his apartment
at 11 am and the con-artist told the
man to submit a down payment via
Google-Play gift cards, police said.
According to police, the man realized
he was a victim of fraud when
he did not receive the loan and never
heard from the company.
Not so neighborly
A baddie whacked a woman with
a cane at a W. 29th Street residence
on Feb. 20.
The victim went to deliver her
neighbor coffee around 7:30 am in
the building near Surf Avenue and
an argument ensued, leading to the
woman being hit in the head with
the walking stick, police said.
Police poser
A liar posing as a cop stole a
man’s wallet on Brighton Fourth
Street on Feb. 20.
The victim was sitting in his
parked car near Ocean View Avenue
at 4:50 am when the thief, acting
as a police offi cer, asked the man for
his ID.
But the nogoodnik reached into
the vehicle and seized the man’s
wallet before fl eeing on foot, authorities
stated.
Electrical scam
A scammer stole $800 from a man
over the phone at Brighton First
Street on Feb. 21.
Police said the sneak thief posed
as the electrical company and called
the victim demanding payment
around noon at a gym near Brighton
First Lane.
The lout prompted the victim to
buy prepaid debit cards and to read
back the serial numbers over the
phone, police said.

Slashed
Two jerks slashed a man’s face in
front of an Ocean Avenue bank on
Feb. 22.
According to police, the bandits
told the man to, “run his money,”
outside the bank near Avenue U at
9:30 pm before beating him and then
fl eeing down Avenue U.
Cops said they recovered a letter
opener.
Cashed out
Some looter broke into an E. 18th
Street store on Feb. 21 and stole the
cash register.
The nogoodnik shattered the
glass door at the Kings Highway
shop at 1 am and took the register,
which contained more than $200,
according to cops.
Police said they recovered a single
black glove and an umbrella at
