A man died on Monday after
his coworker drove into him
on the Cobble Hill set of an inproduction
television series
executive produced by rapper
50 Cent, cops said.
The 64-year-old motorist
lost control of his 2006 Ford
Explorer on Douglass Street
around 4:30 am, smashing it
into 63-year-old Pedro Jimenez
while he moved safety
cones to prepare for a shoot
on the street, according to authorities,
who said the incident
occurred when the driver
accelerated forward from the
parked position.
The motorist then rammed
into an unoccupied car parked
at the corner of Court Street,
police said, while paramedics
rushed Jimenez, a Manhattan
resident, to Brooklyn Hospital,
where doctors pronounced
The fatal crash took place
on the set of the Starz drama
“Power” — which the rapper
born Curtis Jackson, who
hails from Queens, also stars
in — according to reports and
a local at the scene when this
reporter visited.
Cops’ preliminary investigation
revealed the deadly collision
was likely the result of
a tragic mistake, and that the
driver had no intention to run
over his colleague, according
to offi cers from the local 76th
Precinct.
“The motorist and deceased
were working together when
the incident happened. This
was not the case of a speeding
driver on the street striking
a pedestrian,” New York’s
Finest wrote in a post shared
from the station house’s Twitter
account. “Preliminary investigation
indicates a tragic
operator error occurred.”
Jackson released a statement
mourning Jimenez following
the fatal crash, and another
star of the show took to
social media to grieve the sudden
loss of his coworker that
he called a friend to the entire
cast and crew.
