Local doctor treats herniated and bulging discs,
sciatica, and serious lower back pain

There’s nothing better
than warm, Italian comfort
food on a cold winter
night — and Da Nonna Rosa
in Park Slope is the perfect
place to go for it.
It earned an award for
its homemade meatballs at
a food contest held at the
Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
last year where it competed
against 20 other vendors.
This family-owned and
operated establishment offers
homemade pastas, delicious
parmigiana entrees,
grilled specialties, and pizza
galore — even gluten-free
pizza. It is known for its
traditional-style, thin-crust
Nonna Pizza, a square that’s
topped with fresh mozzarella,
marinara sauce, and
basil.
Anthony, who owns the
restaurant with brothers
Ted, Pete, and chef Paul,
says guests can count on
receiving a warm welcome,
too, because they strive to
make all feel comfortable.
“We want everybody
coming back for more,” he
says. Frank Sinatra tunes
and other old-school Italian
songs provide the inviting
background music.
Anthony notes that, “No
one leaves hungry, because
our portions are larger than
those found at similar restaurants.”
Consistency and quality
is the goal of every meal.
“Many of our homemade
recipes come from
grandma,” says Anthony.
Even the desserts are homemade
— chocolate cake,
cheesecake, cannoli, and
their best-seller — tiramisu.
The brothers bring a
wealth of experience to the
restaurant, as all grew up in
the business. From an early
age, they worked for an uncle
who owned a chain of
restaurants. Anthony was
managing a pizzeria at age
16, and eventually moved
up from there. Ted and Pete
worked together, running
an eatery, and Paul is a
graduate of the Culinary Institute
of America. He also
has a second restaurant in
Forest Hills.
“After a while, we decided
to go into business together,”
says Anthony. “We
know that there is no better
team than this band of
brothers.”
It’s certainly to the customer’s
advantage to come
in and always find an owner
present to make sure the
visit is a good one. Anthony
and Peter are usually found
on the floor, seeing that customers
are well taken care
of and happy. Chef Paul is in
the kitchen, cooking up the
delicious dishes, while Ted
oversees the back end of the
establishment.
Come in for lunch or dinner.
Lunch specials are offered
weekdays, from noon
to 4 pm. Patrons can feast on
an entrée that changes seasonally,
plus get a soup or
salad, for a set price of $15.
Dinner specials are offered
as well, and these change
daily.
Da Nonna Rosa offers
banquet space on its second
floor, convenient for hosting
any special occasion.
Here, patrons have enjoyed
weddings, Sweet 16 parties,
communions, christenings,
bar and bat mitzvahs, and
more. The space accommodates
up to 100 people, and
the variety of food and alcohol
options work for every
budget and event.
If you can’t dine in,
they’ll deliver the food to
you. Catering is also available.
