It’s a dog-gone tragedy.
A pup-pilfering bandit
nabbed a Bergen Beach family’s
beloved pooch amid a
brazen daylight burglary on
Easter Sunday, breaking a
3-year-old girl’s heart in the
process, according to her father.
“My daughter loves that
dog. All I care about is getting
my dog back to my daughter,”
said Anatoly Bartov.
Cops are searching for
the mastermind behind
the canine caper, which occurred
on April 21 at around
4:16 p.m., surveillance video
provided by the Bartov family
shows. In the minute-long
clip, the dognapper can be
seen opening the backyard
gate to the vacant E. 73rd
Street home and, 49 seconds
in, strolling out with Oz — a
2-year-old Alaskan Klee Kai.
The dog owners returned
to the home — located between
Avenues W and X — at
around 6 p.m. to fi nd the pup
missing, and the leash he
was chained to cut in half.
Police described the suspect
as an approximately
37-year-old man standing
at 6 feet tall, weighing 180
pounds, and sporting short
brown hair.
Bartov promised a handsome
reward to anyone who
can help bring the dog-thief
to justice.
“There will be a $5,000 reward
to anyone who can help
identity, find, and convict
the person in the video,” he
said.
STOLEN: Oz, an Alaskan Klee Kai, was stolen from his Bergen Beach home on Easter Sunday.
