FLO LEOPOLDI
Flo Leopoldi, 83, was born and raised in Park Slope to Vincenzo and Antonia
Finamore, Italian immigrants. She attended Our Lady of Peace Elementary
School on Carroll street, and Manual Training (now John Jay) High School.
She married Joe Leopoldi in 1959, and had 5 children. While helping Joe
run a luncheonette on 6th Avenue and later, a hardware store at 415 5th Ave,
Flo took care of the home and the children. She was involved in St. Saviour
Church on 8th ave. and St. Thomas Church on 4th Ave. When her husband
Joe passed away in 1989, Flo had a greater presence at the hardware store.
Over the years, Flo became a familiar, friendly face to the customers at
Leopoldi Hardware. Many people went into the store looking for the cookie
and candy treats on the counter. She became so loved by customers that some
called her ma, mom, and mamma when they walked in. Flo passed away on
Wednesday, December 19, 2018. She will be greatly missed.
