18 JANUARY 20 - JANUARY 26, 2017 BROOKLYN MEDIA GROUP St. Ephrem School holds junior high math bee BY ROSALEEN DEGREGORIO Feelings of excitement and anticipation filled the Msgr. Peter V. Kane Hall on Monday, January 9 as 15 junior high contestants gathered to participate in the annual Math Bee contest. Family members, faculty and their fellow students supported the contestants who did a wonderful job answering difficult questions with a time limit of five seconds for rounds one through 10 and a 10-second limit for the subsequent rounds. Congratulations to winner Allie Giordano of the seventh grade and runner-up, eighth grader Jason Daloul. Allie has previous represented the school in the Regional Intermediate Math Bee. Back in 2013, she placed first place, she came in sixth in the 2014 Regional Bee and placed third in the 2015 competition. She will represent St. Ephrem School at the upcoming Regional Math Bee being held at Holy Angels Catholic Academy on February 7. Mrs. Angela Frisari is math bee coordinator.
