TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET: A 41-year-old man was found hiding in the closet of a Bensonhurst apartment after he assaulted and threatened a 28-year-old female relative of his. According to police, the relatives were arguing at an apartment located near West Fourth and 65th Streets on Monday, January 9 at around 9 p.m. which escalated into the 41-yearold strangling his female relative. He then proceeded to punch the 28-year-old in the face and slam her head into a wall. Cops say the man threatened to kill her if she called the police. Police later found the man hiding in a closet inside the apartment and arrested him. THIRSTY THIEF: An unidentified perp stole $330 worth of beer and Red Bull from an Avenue T bodega on Monday, January 2 at around 9:30 p.m. According to POLICE BEAT Compiled by Jaime DeJesus & Anna Spivak police, the basement door of the location (near the corner of Avenue T and West Sixth Street) was unlocked and the thief did make way his way inside and later left with the beverages. The theft was discovered eight days later on January 9 and there is no video evidence of the incident. SHOWER SCHEME: A 34-year-old woman told police that on Friday, January 13, while she was in the shower at around 11:40 p.m., an unidentified perp broke into her home, located near Bath and 21st Avenues, and took her purse, containing a Michael Kors wallet and $210 in cash. The woman told cops that she noticed the purse missing from the hallway where she left it and remembered hearing the doorbell ring while she was in the shower and ignoring it. The 34-year-old believes that her niece might have left the front door open after she left that evening, allowing the perp to gain access after ringing the doorbell and thinking that no one was home. MAN SHOT IN THE FOOT: A 25-yearold man was assaulted at Second Avenue and 36th Street on Thursday, January 12 at around 10:15 p.m. after making a guest appearance on a local podcast. Cops say that as the victim was heading to his car, an unknown man approached him and punched him in the back of the head. Afterwards, the victim heard gun shots. The victim ran westbound on 36th Street towards Second Avenue. Afterwards, the victim realized that he had been shot in the right foot. The victim was removed to NYU Lutheran Medical Center for treatment. On the scene, cops found shell casings. SUCKER PUNCHED: A 53-year-old man was attacked while walking on 52nd Street going to a bank on Seventh Avenue on Wednesday, January 11 at around 12:10 p.m. An unknown perp, described as a Hispanic man wearing a black shirt, came up behind him and punched him in the head. The victim then fell to the ground and the crook demanded his Photo courtesy of the NYPD money. The man complied by giving the perp $40. Afterwards, the perp fled west on 52nd Street. The victim suffered a laceration and bruising to the left side of his head. CROOK STEALS WOMAN'S MEDS: On Wednesday, January 11 at around 9:10 p.m., a 23-year-old woman had her prescriptions stolen as she exited a pharmacy on the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and 58th Street. An unknown perp, described by the victim as a 30-year-old man, approached her and asked for a lighter. As she handed it to him, the perp snatched the black plastic bag, containing alprazolam and amphetamines, from her arm, then fled on foot eastbound on 58th Street. UNLOCKED DOORS: An unknown crook rifled through a car parked at Sixth Avenue and 47th Street on Friday, January 13 at 1 a.m. with the doors unlocked, stealing $240 worth of goods, including Guess bags, a wallet including over seven credit cards and a checkbook. When the owner, a 60-year-old woman, returned to her vehicle at 6 a.m., she discovered the loss. 72 PRECINCT BLOTTER [email protected] According to a police source, the 62-year-old businessman who was carjacked and had more than $20,000 in cash stolen from him in Bay Ridge Monday morning appears to have been targeted by his thieves. Cops say that on Monday, January 16, the man was thrown from his 2013 white Chevy near the corner of Senator Street and Fifth Avenue after two men in an olive green minivan pulled up and blocked him in at around 10:15 a.m. From there, police say, one of the suspects approached the driver's side of the vehicle, threw the victim to the ground and sped away in the car while the other hit the gas in the green minivan. The Chevy was found 12 blocks away, with the cash missing. According to cops, the incident does not appear to be a random act as this is now the second time that the victim, an area businessman, has been robbed in less than two months. Police are actively investigating the incident and an arrest is likely, said the source. The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical attention at the scene, said cops. COPS SEEK TWO PERPS IN GUNPOINT ROBBERY The NYPD is asking the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals wanted in connection to a gun-point robbery that took place at a Bay Ridge Verizon Wireless store on Thursday, September 29. According to police, at around 3:10 p.m., two unidentified perps, a man and a woman, walked in the Verizon Wireless Store, 7411 Third Avenue. The male perp displayed a gun and forced an employee to the rear of the store. The female perp proceeded to steal several items from the store, placing them into a red bag. Following the robbery, both individuals fled in an unknown direction. One suspect is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 20 years old, 6’ tall, 160 pounds, with short, straight hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, light colored sweat pants, and red and black sneakers. The second suspect is described as a black woman, approximately 20 years old, 5’10” tall, 220 pounds with long, curly hair. She was last seen wearing a blue, long-sleeve dress shirt, black tights, and black and white sneakers.
