decided to hold a Sunday brunch at
Hunter's Steak and Ale House. Despite
the bitter cold, sub-freezing weather,
turnout was exceptional and the
low cost brunch turned a nice profit. The KBMSF is administered by
Barbara Vellucci, a past BRCC president
and former assistant principal
of Fort Hamilton High School. She is
strongly supported by Deputy Administrator

Other members of the Brunch

It is an opportunity for new beginnings,
new hopes and new homes for
dogs with love and devotion to give.
Allow an older pup to weave a tapestry
of fun, challenge and affection
into your heart.
Meet Jude of Jordan, a young
male pup, vaccinated, neutered,
housetrained, and good with other
dogs, cats and older children.
Always smiling, Jude, an eightmonth
old handsome Canaan
puppy, is coming all the way from
Jordan to find his home here in
January in the New York-New
Jersey area.
He was found in an abandoned
lot where he was being fed. A kind
lady noticed he was not moving. A
vet visit included surgery on his
hip, which left him with a slight
limp, which does not stop him from
playing. His ideal home is one with
a lot of love.
Jude is a calm dog who does not
bark, but he does speak Arabic,
English, dog, and is learning cat.

Jude and Mocca.
Currently he is 20 pounds, but may
grow to a medium size pooch.

Mocca is an Egyptian Baladi girl,
a female, five-month-old, 20-pound
puppy Pharaoh Hound. She is a short
white/cream coat, house-trained
pup, spayed, up to date with vaccinations,
fully vetted. She will blossom
in a home with other friendly dogs,
older children and well-behaved
cats.
She comes from the streets of
Cairo. A nice girl saw her when
she was six weeks old in the street
beside her house. The girl began to
feed the puppy. Mocca would stand
in front of the house waiting for the
girl every day.
The security man in front the
house hit her with a stick to make
her go away. When the puppy refused,
he threatened to put Mocca
in a plastic bag and throw her in the
trash. The girl called us and we took
Mocca to the vet.
She had reddish clots in her eyes
due to beatings with the stick on her
head. Thankfully, she was totally
cured and lived in a foster shelter
until she found her flight to JFK
(Thursday, December 21). Mocca is
a very kind puppy who is friendly to
people and dogs. Please give Marvelous
Mocca a new leash-on-life.

What an absolute terrific
turnout for the street
co-naming ceremonies in
honor of the late, great
Tom Kane. The block that
Kane grew up on 88th
street near Colonial Road
was formally dedicated
Tom Kane Way and was
even blessed by Reverend
Gerard Sauer, the pastor of
St. Mel's Church, a former associate
pastor at Bay Ridge's St.
Patrick's Church and a personal
friend.
A host of dignitaries were on hand to join
Kane's family, friends and associates on this
auspicious occasion. City Councilmember
Vinnie Gentile -- who ensured the full Council
approved the co-naming, wrote in the program,
"A lifelong Bay Ridge resident, Tom's
tremendous contributions and achievements
left an indelible mark on the community he
loved so much."
Close friend Frankie Marra sang and
played "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan. Kane
was a big, big Dylan fan!
