Long Island City Development Group
has fi led plans to build a 12-story, mixeduse
building in the neighborhood.
Currently a two-story auto repair
shop, developers want to turn 38-24
32nd St. in Long Island City into a
90-room hotel with medical offi ce space
on the ground and third fl oors, according
to plans fi led with the department of
buildings.
Th e hotel would measure 34,581 square
feet while the medical offi ces would take
up 8,154 square feet. Currently, the auto
repair shop is 6,873 square feet. Th ere
would also be a parking garage on the
second fl oor. Amenities would include a
lobby, business center and bar, Th e Real
Deal fi rst reported.
Th e Dutch Kills neighborhood in Long
Island City consists of mostly low-rise
buildings that house manufacturers.
Developers have expressed interest in the
area, which borders Long Island City.
A seven-story condo with 88 units and
78 parking spaces is planned for 37-21
32nd St.
Th e city is also looking to upzone
a part of that neighborhood so that
developers can build more aff ordable
housing in the area. Residents pushed
back on the idea in a meeting with
representatives from the City Planning
Commission in February.
