Locals pack house for new judge’s swearing-in
Jurists, friends, and constituents
of recently elected Kings County
Civil Court Judge Rupert Barry
fi lled the pews of a Crown Heights
church on Jan. 10 to celebrate his
swearing-in.
Barry, a graduate of local public
schools, proudly took his oath of offi
ce inside the First Baptist Church
on Eastern Parkway, surrounded by
many Brooklynites who supported his
bid for the position.
The judge, a Democrat whom voters
elected to the bench last November,
will now serve a 10-year term on
the court.
Barry’s fellow judges watched him take the oath.
Attendees, including District Attorney Eric Gonzalez (right), looked on in admiration while Barry formalized the start of his 10-year term.
