Caribbean Life to honor 35 awardees
Thirty-five awardees including one
organisation will be recognised at the
6th Caribbean Life Impact Awards to
be held at the Paradise Catering Hall, 51
Avenue U, Brooklyn on Thursday, Nov.
14 , 5:30-9:30pm.
Caribbean-Americans, whether they
were born here or migrated to their new
homeland in search of a better life, have
made significant contributions to the
development of their new home and in
many cases have helped in improving
the lives of those left behind in the
Caribbean.
Caribbean Life and Schneps Media
are thrilled to celebrate Caribbean-
American heritage, and as proud
champions of the community, we are
delighted to once again highlight those
who have make New York — and the
world — a better place.
The people we are honoring at our
2019 Impact Awards represent many
countries in the Caribbean and are more
than deserving of our recognition. They
include entrepreneurs, influencers,
technology leaders, youth leaders,
humanitarians and entertainers.
Here’s a look at some of their
inspirational stories:
A Brooklyn born woman of Grenadian
parents who use her expertise to positively
Caribbean L A2 ife, NOVEMBER 8-14, 2019
impact her community at every turn —
serving as a member of Community Board
13 in Coney Island, leading numerous
community advisory committees, and
creating collaborative relationships with
various government agencies.
An advocate and an entrepreneur
from Guyana who has dedicated her life
helping others and who has worked for
many charitable causes.
A technology leader who is involved
in a community-centric initiative to
expand tech social capital for Black and
Latinx youth.
A Guyanese-born Brooklynite who
promotes art from underrepresented
creators.
A notable Caribbean influencer who
was born in Trinidad and immigrated
to New York at age 18, with only $75
dollars and a dream, and has since
built a trustworthy reputation in her
respective fields.
A pioneering leader in youth sports,
responsible for training dozens of
young track and field athletes at the
highest levels of competition.
A not-for-profit business and
community development organization
that works to improve the quality of life
for local residents.
A Grenadian who helps to expand
services to women and immigrant
entrepreneurs.
We look forward to recognizing these
and our other Caribbean-American
honorees, and formally praise their
accomplishments at the annual
Caribbean Life Impact Awards Gala.
