POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING AT MONROE HOUSES
Police are investigating a fatal shooting of a Monroe Houses tenant. According to
police, Nelson Ramos, 29, was shot before 4 a.m. on Sunday, January 6 following an
argument with one or more people outide of the Monroe Houses. Police discovered
Ramos with multiple gunshot wounds at 800 Soundview Avenue. He was rushed to
Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. A nearby ShotSpotter
gunfi re detection device was activated during the incident. No arrests have been
made in this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime

40th Precinct
Tuesday, January 8 at 6:36 a.m. -- Police
responded to report of a motor vehicle collision involving
a pedestrian struck at Willis Avenue and
East 138th Street. Upon arrival, police discovered
an unidentified adult female, unconscious and unresponsive,
lying on the roadway with severe body
trauma. EMS responded to the location where they
pronounced victim deceased. The NYPD Highway
District’s Collision Investigation Squad’s preliminary
investigation determined that a 2007 NYC
Sanitation Sand Spreader was traveling eastbound
on East 138th Street and made a left turn northbound
onto Willis Avenue striking the pedestrian.
After striking the victim, the vehicle left the scene.
No arrests have been made in this ongoing investigation.
44th Precinct
Saturday, January 5 at 11:36 a.m. -- An unidentified
man entered an Apple Bank at 101 E.
170th Street where he handed a bank teller a note
demanding money. The man then forcibly grabbed
another customer towards the bank teller and verbally
threatened to hurt the customers if the teller
did not comply. The suspect fled the location
after the teller gave him $1,420. He is described
as a 35-year-old Hispanic man, 5’4”, 140 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt,
a dark colored vest, blue jeans, black shoes,
a black skull cap and sunglasses. Anyone with information

45th Precinct
Sunday, December 9 at 5 a.m. -- Three individuals
approached a 44-year-old male victim
from behind at 3137 Bruckner Boulevard, knocked
him to the ground and assaulted him. The suspects
punched and kicked the victim repeatedly on
his head and body. One of the suspects struck the
victim on the back with a helmet. The assailants
removed the victim’s backpack which contained
his cell phone and a debit card before fleeing
southbound on Bruckner Boulevard on a scooter.
The victim suffered a laceration to his head and
was taken to Jacobi Hospital in serious, but stable
condition. Anyone with information is asked to

Sunday, December 23 at 6 p.m. -- Two
women made numerous unathorized charges
on multiple credit cards totaling $1,046 inside
of the JCPenney at 100 Baychester Avenue. The
unidentified women were were observed on the
department store surveillance cameras. The first
suspect is a 40-year-old Hispanic women, medium
build, long black hair, she last seen wearing
black coat and grey leggings. The second suspect
is a 20-year-old Hispanic woman, medium
build, long black hair, she last seen wearing a
multi-colored scarf, black coat, pink sneakers
and black leggings. No arrests were made. Anyone

47th Precinct
Wednesday, January 9 at 5:43 a.m. -- Police
responded to a call of shots fired in front of 1024 E.
219th Street. Upon arrival, police observed an unidentified
male, unconscious and unresponsive, lying
on the ground with gunshot wounds to the torso.
EMS responded to the location and pronounced
the victim deceased at the scene. No arrests were
made and the investigation remains ongoing.
48th Precinct
Monday, January 7 at 7:19 p.m -- Police responded
to a report of a man shot near East 178th
Street and Boston Road. Upon arrival, police discovered
an unconscious and unresponsive Jerodd Watkins,
38, inside of a vehicle with a gunshot wound
to his head. EMS responded to the scene and transported
the West Farms resident to St. Barnabas
Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No
arrests have been made.
Police are searching for this man who wanted
in connection to a bank robbery at 101 E.
170th Street.
