Aft er expanding to 48 teams across four divisions over the last two years, the league has learned many valuable lessons and is looking forward to a big season, according to John Guarneri of the MSBL. Before embarking on the new campaign, the league congratulates its championship teams of 2016: • 2016 NYCE 9/10u Division - DG Renegades 10u • 2016 NYCE 11/12u Division - Asopec 12u • 2016 NYCE 13/14u Division - Asopec 14u • 2016 NYCE 15/16u Division - NYCYSO Rays 15u • 2016 MSBL Labor Day Invitational Tournament - BBA Bombers • 2016 MSBL Halloween Bash Tournament - Team Beast • 2016 MSBL Columbus Day Tournament of Champions - Middle Village Razorbacks Th e 2017 MSBL season will feature two new divisions and holiday weekend tournaments. Here’s a calendar of the upcoming events: • Th e 2017 MSBL 12U, 14U and 16U Welcome Back MLB Tournament, weekend of April 1-2; • Th e 10U Tribute to WBC Tournament, April 9; • Th e new NYCE 8U and 17/18U divisions, playing April 1 through Aug. 27; • Th e NYCE 9/10U, 11/12U, 13/14U and 15/16U Divisions, playing April 1 through Aug. 27; • Th e MSBL 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U Memorial Day Weekend Tournament, weekend of May 26; • Th e MSBL 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U July 4 Weekend Tournament, weekend of June 30; • Th e MSBL 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U Labor Day Weekend Tournament, weekend of Sept. 1; • Th e MSBL 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U Columbus Day Weekend Tournament, weekend of Oct. 6; and • Th e MSBL 11U Halloween Bash Tournament, Oct. 28. Good times roll for BWG soccer boys Photo courtesy of Ovid Cusu Th e BWG 2008 U9 boys team participated in the Silverback Gorilla Invitation Tournament last weekend in Pennsylvania. Th e boys had a great experience playing in this tournament fi nishing with 3 wins and 2 losses. Aft er their Pennsylvania trip, they participated in the New York Cup quarterfi nal game against Brentwood Soccer Club and successfully advanced to the Semifi nal round with a 9 -1 victory.
