Yankees-Stonewall Scholars
Initiative Selection
Process Announced
BRONX TIMES REPORTER, A BTR PRIL 19-25, 2019 81
COACH WINSTON DINKINS
On Friday, April 12, Monsignor
Scanlan’s Track Team
were blessed with 8 medals
from the Fordham Prep Meet
#2 at Icahn Stadium, Randall’s
Island. We had great weather
and good competition for our
2nd outdoor meet. Our athletes
were motivated and ready to
brake their personal record’s
and earn a medal. Jordan
Providence had an excellent
day; he broke his PR (personal
record) in the Varsity 200- and
400-meters races and took 1st
place in both races. Freshman
Hannah Gadpaille took
2nd place in the Varsity 200
meters and medal in the 400
meters. Her teammate Sophomore
Ky’Anna Sanchez also
medal in the 200 and 400 meters.
Freshman Jesna John
joined the medal group by
earning a medal in the Varsity
400 meters. Sophomore Nana
Achampong earned a medal in
the Varsity Boy’s 400 meters
and he broke his personal record.
Joel John also broke his
personal record in the 200- and
400-meters races. Great job to
all that competed!
On Saturday, April 13,
Freshman Hannah Gadpaille
competed in the 2019 NYC Mayor’s
Cup which consist of Public
Schools Athletic League
(PSAL), Catholic High School
Athletic Association (CHSAA),
and the New York Association
of Independent Schools (NYSAIS).
This was the Best of the
Best from NYC! Hannah competed
in the Varsity 100- and
200-meters dash. Only the top
three earned medals, therefore
medals were diffi cult to
come by. But that didn’t stop
Hannah, she qualifi ed for the
100 meters fi nals with the 3rd
fastest time in the trails. She
was able to maintain that position
by running her personal
best with time of 12:59 to take
3rd place in the 100-meter fi -
nals. As a freshman, running
against Seniors, Juniors,
Sophomores and Freshman
and take 3rd among the Best in
NYC is an awesome task. Plus,
she took 4th in the Varsity
200-meters. Just missing earning
another medal by 13 100s of
a second. Great Job Hannah!
Our next meet will be the
CHSAA Jr. Weight / Novice
Intersectional Championship
Monday, April 22, at Icahn Stadium.
