Velocity Track Club New

outstanding indoor season
after winning 41 medals at
the 2019 AAU Indoor Nationals
and 25 at the 2019 USATF

Championships. Plus, Brianna
Burrell was selected
as the USATF New York 9/10
Girl Division Track & Field
Athlete of the Year. This
is an awesome accomplishment.
To be recognized at
the USATF New York Awards
banquet along with the other
division winners brings an
extra since of pride to Brianna
and our program. This
was Brianna’s third consecutive
year winning the
award. This award is a little
more special
because, Brianna
was the only nine
year old, competing
in the 9/10 division
who won the
award. Congratulations
Brianna.
To celebrate our
outstanding indoor

Track Club went
bowling at Bowlerland

The Monsignor Scanlan’s
Boys Track Team
started the outdoor season
on a good note! On Saturday,
March 30th, we competed
in the CHSAA (Catholic
High School Athletic
Association) Open Season
meet at Icahn Stadium. We
were blessed with lovely 68
degrees weather which allow
the athletes to perform
their best. Medals were distributed
to the top 5 athletes
in their event. Jordon Providence
who has been sidelined
by a hamstring injury
for months, was able to win
a Silver medal in the Varsity
400 meters dash. Nana
Achampong, who is known
for his mid-distance running,
showed that he can
also sprint, Nana PR (personal
record) in the 200-
and 400-meters races. Also,
Eden Lawrence PR in his
400-meter race.
When an athlete performs
their best and break
their personal record, it
shows that they tried their
best and the program is
working. They may not
win the medals at this time,
however with continuous
improvement, they will be
there. Congratulations to
all that competed.
Our next meet will be the
Fordham Prep Development
Meet #1 on Friday, April 5th,
2019 at Icahn Stadium.
