Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) will partner with Healthfirst Health Plan to host a Family Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Martin Lande House, located at 137-43 45th Avenue, Flushing, NY 11355. This major outreach effort fulfills the Health Center’s larger mission of increasing awareness of good health and empowering community residents to lead healthy lifestyles. Jane Eng, the Health Center’s Chief Executive Officer, states, “We are so pleased to open a new clinic at the Selfhelp Senior Housing building on 137-43 45th Avenue. The new clinic will offer internal medicine, pediatrics, mental health and social work assistance for patients. Today’s health fair seeks to introduce patients to the 45th Avenue site, and to extend health screening and education services to the community. We are glad to partner with Selfhelp which provides housing, home health care and social services to seniors and other at risk groups.” “We are so proud to partner with the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center in our newest Flushing housing site. Selfhelp’s senior housing model provides for ‘housing with services’, which allows for our City’s older adults to age in their communities with access to health, wellness, and social services on site if and when needed. Having the health center within our housing helps us guarantee that our residents and the rest of Flushing will have access to high-quality and culturally competent health services.
