Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is truly a star of soul
food. Its Brooklyn location, rooted on Union
Streeteet in Cobble Hill, serves up southernstyle
meats and draft brews in a retro setting
that is sure to have just about anybody coming
back for seconds (and even thirds and fourths).
The chain’s barbecue, which was fi rst born
in 1983, is nationally acclaimed. So, it’s no
surprise that its food and sauces continue to
take home bragging rights with its Brooklyn
location, which fi rst opened in June 2013.
Since then, it’s been serving up fan-favorites
from the BBQ Chili Nachos (loaded with pulled
pork, A.K. chili, house queso, picked onion,
jalapeños, tomato and chipotle crema) to the
Dino Poutine (hand-cut fries smothered in
beef gravy, house pimento cheese, pulled pork,
pickled jalapeno and crispy belly cracklings)
to their signature pit plates, available in pork,
brisket and “bbq half bird.” They also serve up
“custom ‘cue,” making Dinosaur the one to beat

television series, “Seinfeld,” Tom’s Restaurant
in Park Slope has also taken home many an
honor for its humbly extensive breakfast menu.
Renowned in the past as boasting “Brooklyn’s
most endearing breakfast,” Tom’s Restaurant
does it well, and it does it all day. From the
“Omelette Extravaganza” section of its menu to
its classic breakfast wares, there’s something
for everyone at Tom’s, leaving Brooklynites

at Buttermilk Channel may be, this little old

Oven Biscuit Café. Serving the Williamsburg

This upscale and high-class Chinese restaurant at
the corner of 8Third Streeteet and Third Avenue
in the heart of Bay Ridge swept the competition
with plenty of bragging rights, but perhaps the
most important is its take-home of the title of best
Chinese restaurant well beyond its hometown
in south Brooklyn. It’s extensive menu boasts
not just a hearty amount of critically acclaimed
starters, but it is also home to some of the most
inventive takes on classic Chinese dishes (like,
general tso’s chicken and everyone’s favorite,
dumplings), as well as specialty drinks and
desserts. All of it priced reasonably and served
beautifully, it’s no wonder why Xin, one of the

Streetll, its flagship shop remains a favorite
for thirsty Brooklynites with a caffeine
craving. An independently owned and
operated coffee company, Café Grumpy
prides itself on its specialty coffee, which
is nurtures from sourcing to roasting and
brewing, as well as its ability as a local
staple to develop positive relationships with
its neighbors who also call Brooklyn home.
