6 MARCH 24 - MARCH 30, 2017 BROOKLYN MEDIA GROUP DRUG BUST IN BAY RIDGE YIELDS MORE THAN A POUND OF MARIJUANA Cops from the 68th Precinct busted two men in Bay Ridge and arrested them for criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, when more than 16 ounces of marijuana were found in their vehicle. According to authorities, the officers pulled the car over on Tuesday, March 21 at 11:25 p.m. for failing to signal for a left turn at 94th Street and Third Avenue. When the cops approached the vehicle, they smelled an odor of marijuana emanating from it and saw an open bottle of alcohol. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton. HOODWINKED: A 38-year-old man who lives near Fourth Avenue and 82nd Street was swindled out of $7,000 by a man who called him and claimed to be from the IRS on Tuesday, March 14 at 12 p.m. Cops say the perp called the man and told him that the IRS was going to give him $7,000 if he sent them $2,500. The victim responded by sending the money via iTunes gift cards, but never received the money that was promised to him. No arrests have been made. PIG OUT: A 40-year-old delivery man had approximately $1,098 worth of snacks stolen from his van by an unknown perp. According to reports, the man parked the vehicle on Monday, March 13 at around 4 p.m. on 71st Street between Ridge Boulevard and Third POLICE BEAT Avenue. A crook subsequently cut the locks and chains and removed the items, including beef jerky, cakes and chips, that were inside two metal shipping and storage containers. The victim discovered that the items were missing the following day at around 4:30 p.m. TOOL TIME: Approximately $19,950 worth of equipment was stolen by an unknown crook from a vehicle parked in a maintenance facility near 62nd Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway. According to the victim, a 50-year-old man, he left the vehicle unlocked on Friday, March 10 at around 3:30 p.m. While the vehicle was parked, the perp took a variety of expensive tools including welding machines, a Bosch Hamerdon, a Hogan Magneltic, a torque wrench, an air impact gun, and more. When the victim returned to the vehicle on Monday, March 10 at around 7 a.m., he discovered the theft. The perp left a glove inside the vehicle, but no arrests have been made. MAN ATTACKS BOY WITH UMBRELLA: An eight-yearold boy was struck with an umbrella by his mother's boyfriend, 46, in an apartment near Bay 26th Street and 86th Street. According to reports, on Saturday, March 11 at approximately 10 a.m., the mother and the assailant were arguing when he grabbed the umbrella and hit the boy with it, causing swelling under the left eye. The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment. No arrest has been reported at the time. JEALOUSY: Four perps attacked a 46-year-old man at Bay Parkway and 86th Street on Friday, March 17 at around 10 p.m. after one of them accused the victim of looking at his girlfriend. One of the attackers reportedly said to the victim, “You looking at my girl.” Then he struck the man with an unknown blunt object on the forehead, causing bleeding. The attackers, believed to be in their '30s, then fled eastbound on 86th Street. No arrests have been made SHOVEL ATTACK: A 33-year-old woman was apprehended by cops for striking her 42-year-old husband with a shovel. According to reports, on Friday, March 17 at around 11 p.m., during an argument over money at an apartment on Highlawn Avenue between West Fifth and West Sixth Street, the woman struck repeatedly struck him in the head with the weapon. CROOK COMES AWAY EMPTY HANDED: A 34-year-old man was attacked by a male perp who tried to steal his backpack while he was walking at Bath Avenue and Bay 19th Street on Thursday, March 16. Reports claim that the crook ran up behind the man, punched him in the face and attempted to snatch the bag. After not being able to steal the goods, the perp ran away from the victim and fled southbound on Bay 19th Street towards Cropsey Avenue. No arrests were made. ROBBER BUSTED BY COPS: A 25-year-old man was busted by cops after threatening and attempting to steal money from a 44-year-old man. According to cops, the victim was in the lobby of an apartment building at Bay Parkway and 73rd Street when the crook allegedly followed him, held a box cutter to his neck and demanded money. Before he could grab the loot, the man fled westbound on 74th Street on foot. The man was arrested and charged with robbery. 68TH PRECINCT 62ND PRECINCT
