Steinbrenner Field becomes smoke- and tobacco-free
The New York Yankees
announced that Steinbrenner
Field has become a smoke-
and tobacco-free stadium. This
policy will be in place for all stadium
events, including all Yankees
spring training workouts
and games, and all Tampa Tarpons
games.
The use of all tobacco products,
including but not limited to
cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco,
e-cigarettes and vapor
mechanisms, will be prohibited
in all areas of the stadium. Additionally,
the majority of the
grounds around the stadium will
also be designated smoke- and
tobacco-free. Patrons wishing
to use tobacco products prior to
entering Steinbrenner Field or
after leaving Steinbrenner Field
will be restricted to designated
spaces on the grounds outside
the stadium.

Jeanne Jugan Residence, located
at 2999 Schurz Avenue.
These items will be sold annually
in their gift shop and Christmas
Bazaar.
They have a special need for
brand new toys. Other items include
costume jewelry, gift sets,
electronic items specialty items,
new tagged clothing, accessories
and collectibles.
They are unable to take VHS,
used dish sets, loose glassware/
vases, books or used bedding
of any kind.

Hostelling International
New York is now accepting
applications for its Explore the
World travel scholarship program,
which is awarding $2,000
travel scholarships to 18 young
adults throughout New York City
who want to take an educational
or service journey abroad, but
lack the fi nancial means. The
New York program is part of a
national program administered
by Hostelling International USA,
which will award more than 110
travel scholarships in 14 cities
throughout the country in 2019.
As a nonprofi t organization
with the belief in the power of
travel to foster a deeper understanding
of people, places, and
the world, HI USA believes everyone
should be able to experience
the transformative power
of travel, regardless of socioeconomic
status. For this reason,
eligible candidates must be
past or former Pell Grant recipients
or with income not to exceed
300% of the poverty line.
Applicants must be between 18
and 30 years of age.
At a time when many people
around the world are afraid
to travel or feel that their right
to travel is being challenged, HI
NYC’s Explore the World program
and mission counter that
fear and offer young New Yorkers,
ages 18 to 30, several of
whom have never left the state
of New York, the opportunity to
grow and learn through travel.
Last year, scholarships were
awarded to New York students
from colleges including Columbia
University, NYU, CUNY
LaGuardia and John Jay Colleges
and students’ diverse
experiences included traveling
to Madagascar, Mozambique,
Morrocco, Belize and South Korea.
Scholarship recipients returned
home from their travels
with a profound sense of intercultural
appreciation and a renewed
dedication to spreading
the word about travel and tolerance

until Friday, March 2 and recipients
will be announced Wednesday,
April 10. Travel must be

wheelchair lifts.
