Weekend events at the New York Botanical Garden
Wave Hill’s 2018-2019 concert season
continues into the new year with
four performances. Drawing from different
genres, each concert reimagines
the traditional structures of chamber
music. In the unique setting of Armor
Hall and Wave Hill, an intimate public
garden in the Bronx overlooking the
Hudson River, these Sunday afternoon
performances will transport audience
members from the bygone era of the
jazz age to the forefront of today’s new
music scene.
On Sunday, January 13, The Argus
Quartet (new music, classical) performs
new works by Chris Cerrone,
Juri Seo, Christopher Theofanidis and
Ted Hearne. On Sunday, February 17,
Marika Hughes (classical, world, folk,
blues, jazz) debuts her New String Quartet,
highlighting the powerful sound of
raw strings even as it draws from many
musical infl uences. On Sunday, March
17, Bronx-based musician Arthur Vint
(jazz, rock, world) brings his eclectic
“associates” to Wave Hill with a nod to
composer Ennio Morricone in celebration
of his 90th birthday. The season
