The block that Kane grew up on 88th street near Colonial Road was formally dedicated Tom Kane Way and was even blessed by Reverend Gerard Sauer, the pastor of St. Mel's Church, a former associate pastor at Bay Ridge's St. Patrick's Church and a personal friend. A host of dignitaries were on hand to join Kane's family, friends and associates on this auspicious occasion. City Councilmember Vinnie Gentile -- who ensured the full Council approved the co-naming, wrote in the program, "A lifelong Bay Ridge resident, Tom's tremendous contributions and achievements left an indelible mark on the community he loved so much." Close friend Frankie Marra sang and played "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan. Due to the sudden death of their daddy, Precious the Pit Bull and Patches the kitty are desperately seeking a new home. I am a four to five-year-old unspayed female. I am very scared now, as my deceased daddy left us two days ago. We are all alone and not sure of our fate. I love cats and long walks. I need some socializing as my daddy was ill for a long time, and did not take me out to meet my other doggie friends. I would love to find another mommy and daddy. I promise to give you unconditional love and be your best buddy for life. All I need is a chance for someone to help me now and show me the ropes.” “Meeeows, my name is Patches, a dark gray and white tuxedo, full figure kitty. I am four to five years old and fixed. And yes, I need to lose some weight, purrs. “I would love to find another forever home with someone who loves me the way my dad did. I promise to love you forever. Please give me a chance. Thank you. and God Bless!” *** “Hi, I am Precious, a.k.a. Debbie, and I am an eight-year-old long-haired black cat my mom found in her Park Slope backyard in 2014. I was so lucky that she took me in, took care of me, brought me to the vet, and let me stay as long as she could. I am pretty adorable, humble, and funny, as my mother is constantly laughing when I am around (is she laughing at me or with me?!). “We play, talk a lot and I follow her all over because she loves the company. So do I! I am always there at the door to greet her. I even made friends with her other two backyard rescued cats. My mom was just offered a cheaper, subsidized apartment that is better for her. She is disabled, and has to accept it. Sadly, she can only take two of us with her. “She thought I would make another wonderful person very happy. I need a new mom or dad, fast! Could that be YOU? Please, if you are thinking about adopting a kitty, call or text my mother Karen, at 718-669-3714, ASAP. Thanks. I hope to meet you soon. I have been living with my mom all these years, but now there is a toddler. The baby is sweet, but I GENERALLY SPEAKING THODORE GENERAL decked headline MEEOW MEEOW... Hello there, “I am Panela, a fi ve-yearold, gray and white tuxedo kitty. I have the softest fur and am very sweet, but a little shy. Once I warm up to you, I like to read, watch TV, surf the net and most of the time will even help you with these things. I can also be happily by myself for long periods, but I am always available for play time at a moment’s notice. “My outstanding quality is that I am super mellow, and a very low maintenance kitty. I am okay with cats, dogs and children. However, I would especially enjoy being the only cat in the house. That would be my preference. “I am an easy cat to take, as I am meticulously clean. I am looking for a new home, a life-long friend. I am looking for YOU. Would you like to come and meet me? Look into my stunning yellow eyes, and I’ll capture your loving heart. This could be the start of a new friendship. I am purrfect for you. I am spayed with my vaccinations and micro chipped.” Please contact [email protected]. *** Zani’s Furry Friends is a 501(c)3 non-profi t organization committed to rescuing companion animals from New York City shelters where, unfortunately, they are at signifi cant risk for euthanasia due to overcrowding. Beyond directly helping the animals they save, their rescue creates space at the shelter—thus giving another shelter cat or dog an opportunity to await a chance for adoption or rescue and thereby potentially saving yet another life. The group’s mission is to help you fi nd the perfect furry companion for your family and to help every animal they rescue fi nd the forever home it deserves. The group’s foster home network allows it to become fully familiar with each of the available cats and dogs and helps ensure the best possible match with adoptive families. Zani’s Furry Friends is a member of the Mayor’s Alliance and a New Hope Partner with the Animal Care & Control of New York City.
