Looking for something fun and
intellectually stimulating to do
this fall? Look no further than
the New York Hall of Science, located
a short distance from LeFrak City on
the edge of Flushing Meadows Corona
Park. Th e array of activities scheduled
in the weeks ahead include a
3D view of the life aquatic; the annual
World Maker Faire that showcases
incredible engineering; and,
just in time for Halloween, a look at
some creepy and weird science used
in the movies. The New York Hall
of Science is located at 47-01 111th

Friday, September 15
1. Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Secret
Ocean 3D captures the beauty of the
ocean and marine life with the help
of underwater fi lming. Th e fi lm will
be open until June 30, 2018 and is
shown daily at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admissions
is $6 for adults; $5 children,
students and senior citizens, plus
NYSCI admission; $4 for members
and reserved school groups; free for
Family Explorer members.
2. Learn about all things space with
the 20 minute Journey to Space 3D
fi lm, daily at noon. Th e fi lm will run
until June 30, 2018. $6 adults, $5 children,
students and senior citizens,
plus NYSCI admission; $4 for member
and reserved school groups; free
for Family Explorer members.
Saturday, September 16
3. Entries were sent into the New
York Hall of Science to create, Science
Inspires Art: Ocean. Now, visitors
can see the exhibition that artist
and scientist helped create by sending
in 2D images of original art encompassing
new information about
the ocean. Free with NYSCI admissions.
Th e exhibition is open until
Feb. 25, 2018 and can be viewed during
the museum’s hours.
4. Through Nov. 30, experience
the Rocket Park Mini Golf at the
museum. Admission is $6 for adults,
$5 for children and senior with NYSCI
admission. Golfing is weather
permitting.
Saturday, September 23
5. World Maker Faire at the New
York Hall of Science is a family fun
festival to learn and get creative all
while being surrounded by food, music,
science and technology. Th e event
will last until Sept. 24. All museum
admissions on both days require a
purchase of a World Maker Faire
ticket.
Saturday, October 14
6. Watch a collection of films on
human relationship with the natural
world. Visitors are in for a fun and engaging
aft ernoon from 2 to 3 p.m. Th e
Imagine Science fi lm festival screening:
Short Film Program/ Science for Nanos
is free with NYSCI admission.
Saturday, October 28
7. With Halloween approaching,
NYSCI visitors get the chance to meet
with special eff ects artist and technologist
and explore the Science of Creepy
with, “Dead or Alive: Special Eff ects.”
Free with museum admission open in
October from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, November 11
8. Now until Sunday, January 14
2018, NYSCI visitors can view homemade
edible gingerbread houses that
were created over the course of a year
by Jon Lovitch. Free with NYSCI admissions,
come visit the gingerbread
village while the museum is open.
Friday, December 8
9. RSVP to the free STEM Night:
Health and Medicine at the New
York Hall of Science. Middle
school, high school and college
students will interact with experts
from the medical field about the
different careers available and just
about anything else. The event is
from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Students under
age 16 are required to bring a
chaperone.
