12-story residential plaza dedicated in Mott Haven
Paul Reisner of Scope Realty
had a vision: He wanted
to create a real estate company
that invested in its
agents’ success.
He would pay for them
to become licensed, provide
them with listings and leads,
and then continue to educate
and train them each week.
In short, it was a model that
would make it impossible
for them to fail because, “We
would invest in them from
Day One,” says Reisner.
This thinking was revolutionary.
Reisner has spent
years in the industry, and as
far as he knows, no other real
estate company had done anything
like this.
To bring this vision to
fruition, he created Scope
Realty, and it has become
“the fastest-growing real estate
offi ce ever,” says Reisner.
In just 14 months, it had
252 agents.
Michelle Roitman is one
of the agents who signed on
early.
“The day I came in for my
interview, I knew that this
was the place for me,” she
says. And she still feels this
same way today. “They are
always cheering you on, and
doing everything they can to
make your life easy.”
A big benefi t — one that
she fi nds instrumental to success
— is that the offi ce has
a driver and company car,
available for use at any time.
BRONX TIMES REPORTER, M 18 ARCH 15-21, 2019 BTR
“What other company
does that?” she says.
In addition, “There are
amazing mentors, willing to
teach you and guide you, every
step of the way.”
Cleveland Stewart, another
Scope agent, agrees.
“Working for Scope has
taught me a tremendous
amount over the last year,” he
says. “Paul Reisner, the president,
and Chris Fenelus, the
CEO, are always a phone call
away.”
New York real estate can
be a diffi cult place is for newcomers.
It is already crowded
with fi rms that have been
around for decades, and these
recognizable names make it
nearly impossible for the new
guy on the block to break into
the marketplace. This is part
of what makes Scope Realty
so unique. The company has
broken the traditional mold,
and by doing so, has shattered
the barriers. This fresh,
innovative way of doing business
creates a winning situation
for both the buyer and
the seller. Whether it involves
commercial real estate, private
houses, or rentals, Scope
has become a leader in the
fi eld.
“Scope is the only one
to consider,” says Stewart.
“There is always an opportunity
to help clients purchase a
home, sell a home, or rent an
apartment.”
Reisner adds that its management
team, brokers, and
agents are as diverse as the
city itself.
“Our strength as a company
comes from our diversity,
and our ability to serve
every community across the
city by speaking their language
and living in these
neighborhoods.”
Realtor Michael Donkis
says Scope offers more
to agents than, “anyone out
there.” This makes it a winwin
for all parties because,
“When you pair a solid foundation
like Scope Realty, with
a determined work ethic, you
will see real results.”
Scope Realty is expanding,
with new offi ces that will
be opening in Soho, Brooklyn,
Queens, and the Bronx in
the near future.

Scope Realty is Innovating New York City’s
Real Estate Market
BY PATRICK ROCCHIO
A recently completed affordable
housing development
was dedicated in the memory
of America’s foremost civil
rights leader.
A ribbon cutting ceremony
held on Monday, March 4 at
MLK Plaza in Mott Haven,
named in honor of Martin
Luther King Jr., celebrated
the completion of the 12-story
apartment building with 167
affordable housing units.
The building features a
spacious grandiose two-story
high entrance lobby that showcases
a mural dedicated to
King and an energy effi cient
façade with a LEED Platinum
green building certifi cation.
Its unique amenities are
usually found in more upscale
residential buildings, said Dan
Rad, principal of the builder,
Radson Development.
Radson developed the
building with funding from
the NYS Housing Development
Corporation and the NYC Department
of Housing Preservation
and Development.
The affordable units were
leased through a housing lottery,
which was already held,
for families earning from
MLK Plaza Ribbon Cutting. Joseph Enrique Lara
$21,930 to just above $75,000
for a family of three. Another
33 units were set aside for the
formerly homeless.
Additionally, 68 units in
the building will be permanently
affordable due to subsidies
provided both under the
Mayor’s Mandatory Inclusionary
Housing program, an affordable
housing development
plan, and the additional support
from HPD and HDC, said
Rad.
“It is an amenity rich building,”
said Rad, pointing out
the building’s greenroofs, outdoor
and indoor recreation areas,
a gym, laundry room and
an outdoor yoga space.
The apartments have high
quality fi xtures and fi nishings,
Rad said.
These include luxurious
wooden fl oors, Italian porcelain
in the bathrooms, granite
countertops, tilt and turn
casement windows and highenergy
effi cient kitchen appliances,
said Rad.
The building was designed
with the tenants’ quality of
life in mind, he said.
“Radson Development is
proud to bring this state of the
art building to Mott Haven,
and we are grateful to all our
partners that helped make this
dream a reality,” said Rad.
Additionally, Rad said that
the building has a lot of architecturally
pleasing elements
and is approximately 180,000
square feet.
Borough President Ruben
Diaz Jr., who took part in the
ceremonial ribbon cutting,
said that his offi ce provided
$500,000 in funding to the project.
“MLK Plaza is a testament
to our efforts to create new
housing units and keep our
borough and our city affordable,”
said Diaz.
Adding, “MLK Plaza will
not only provide necessary affordable
housing units for the
borough but considering that
permanent supportive housing
is the key to preventing recurring
homelessness, these
new units will also help alleviate
the homelessness problem.”
Local Councilwoman Diana
Ayala said she was excited
about bringing more “deeply
affordable projects” like the
complex to Mott Haven.
The apartment unit mix
is comprised of 25 studios, 57
one-bedrooms, 60 two-bedrooms,
and 24 three-bedroom
apartments.
Additionally, there is a 722
square foot community room.
